Which Habit Is The Most Important?

Everything starts from the first step. The Seven Habits starts with the principle called Be Proactive. I call it principle and think this is the first and important habit among those 7 habits. Because this is the fundamental of all other habits. With this first step I will be able to learn and develop other habits.

When I was reading the book, I noticed many people are re-active and move by others influence. For example, children clean the home by parents’ request, students do class work by teachers request and employees move by managers request. There are few people are born proactive and lead people. But good news is being proactive is a skill can be learned and developed.

Steven Covey taught in his book being proactive means to actively choose what our response will be in any situation rather than to react blindly.

When I was reading the book first time being proactive means living by his or her plan rather other people's plan merely. But when I was reading the summery of the book by summeries.com learned it had much more meanings. That includes being proactive mean;

- Self-awareness - the ability to control thoughts

- Imagination - the ability to mentally create a new reality

- Conscience - an inner awareness of light and wrong

- Independent will - the ability to act on thoughts

It means man must be responsible and able to control the thoughts flowing in his mind and throw out the bad once and develop the good once and organize in his mind. After clearing the idea one should act upon rather dream and leave behind.

Being proactive doesn’t mean being pushy, aggressive or insensitive. Rather, proactivity means to control a situation from the inside out. Or in other words, to affect positive change, stop focusing on the immediate circumstances and instead consider your response to the conditions that exist.

It is in the ordinary events of every day that we develop our proactive skills. It is in the little things that we show our true character traits.

One of my friends one time during our conversation immediately picked up his lap top and started writing and making phone calls according to our talk. He said I am trying to develop the NOW principle. We should start acting now rather talking a lot. Just like the idea we can think thorough than act rather thinking about or talking a lot. It is the first step and we should remember how high is the goal it always takes the first step.

Eventually we start fulfilling the second and third principles after developing a good habit of being pro-active. The other steps are important as the first one but can be piled on the first one.

Begin with the end in mind. - Every task or lifelong goals can be pictured in mind clearly as possible. Put first things first. - The successful people clearly see the long term and non-urgent, yet important tasks and start doing it. Think Win Win. - The most effective way to work with people is to see the win win result not methods.

Seek first to understand, then to be understood. - The communication skill is the most effective when we seek to understand others before to be understood.

Synergize. - Creative cooperation creates much more result than estimated.

Sharpen the saw. - Evenly develop personal progress in spiritual, physical, menta, social and emotional dimensions.

All the habits require personal proactive character. I will focus on the first qualification and believe the rest will come by constant study.

Gratitude and Entrepreneurship

In the bible Jesus healed 10 men with lepers. The unhealable ill of that time till death. But he cured them all. They all went happily but only one returned to Jesus and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thank. Jesus said where are other nine and he was disappointed. Why is gratitude important? Let’s think about it. Well could we reflect upon our lives as individuals. We will soon discover much to prompt our personal gratitude. Can we think about how grateful we are for our mother, father, teachers, and friends? All it starts from what they have done to your life. Thing of every detail and big and small things. Observe your feeling to come. How does it relate to entrepreneurship? The pursuit of opportunities is the essence of entrepreneurship. We define an opportunity as a future state that is both desirable and achievable. We also make a distinction among ideas, possibilities, and opportunities. The process of identifying and exploiting entrepreneurial opportun...

How will you measure your life?

I had some take away from the article “How will you measure your life” Harvard Business Review. It is always difficult to someone what to do, especially to your family members, boss and investors etc. Many smart people don’t tell others what to do, instead inspire them. Clayton M Christensen shared the story of how he influenced “Intel” chairman Andrew Grow about insisting him produce “Celeron” CPU for the market. It was not good approach to advice directly what to do. But he was talking about the model and how it helped Nucor and other companies. Basically, he was not telling him what to think rather how to think. From my perspective it was about helping him to make a right decision with conflicted communication technique. Sametime I think why it is that way. Why it is not simply telling directly what is the best way? Clayton M. Christensen understands the complicated world including the rank of people, professional communication, business culture and many other things. He co...

Modern Mongolia

Some may think Mongolia is endless steppe and Gobi Desert and men on horse galloping. That is true only in some parts of Mongolia. One third of the population is nomadic and almost half of the population is living in the capital city Ulaanbaatar. The city is a mix of ancient Buddhist temple, soviete period block buildings and modern architecture. This is central hub of all the country for trade and supply. The railway comes from Russia to all the way to China. Highways connected all the 21 provinces nowodays. Ulaanbaatar has the only international airport and becomes the central spot for tourists around the world. The heavy traffic and sky scrapers in down town surrounded by ger district and mountains is the main image of the city. Shangri-La, Best Western Permium and other chain hotels provide comfortable hotel stay while some ger camps offer unique stay outside of town. If the visitor reluctant to eat local food can choose western meal restaurants Bluefin, California, Nazk...
